On Sunday, Jo and I headed down to Orchard Road to accomplish three things, viz. (a) to watch Captain Phillips; (b) to buy footwear (shoes for her, sandals for me); and (c) to take photographs. By the time the movie finished the sun had set, so it was a perfect time to snap some shots of the Christmas lights along Orchard Road.
Our equipment of the day was a Canon EOS 70D with the Canon EF-S 10-22mm Super Wide Zoom and the Olympus OMD E-M1 with the Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4. We interchanged cameras a few times so I can’t say who took what, but I have the sneaky feeling that if you think the shot is framed well, it’s likely that my wife took it; she has a natural flair for composition!
First, the incredibly well-placed and admittedly well-designed ferrero rocher tree standing outside Ngee Ann City. These guys really went over the top with the lighting (which could easily have been ostentatious) but it worked.
I’m not sure about you, but when I was younger it used to be an annual affair for my parents to take us out to see the Orchard Road lights. We wouldn’t walk down Orchard Road; rather, we would sit in my dad’s car and take leisurely drive through the Orchard Road jam. I can imagine looking out of the car and seeing this crazy photographer (me) on the edge of the road snapping this photograph and wondering what that idiot was doing.
Outside Mandarin Gallery:
Yes, I know I know…they’re photos of people taking photos. But for some reason I like how those shots usually turn out!
The super-wide zoom showing itself off.
This one was definitely taken by Jo; I think it was part of the LV ? / Channel ? advertisement outside of Takashimaya.
Dining as the world goes speeding past.
The Takashimaya Christmas Tree in all its three-storey grandeur. We’re arguing about who took this photograph 😛 To be fair, there’s more than one of them.
No arguments here.
Beautiful shots by Jo – capturing the moment!
As always, a fun albeit learning experience.
